Following graduation from Auckland University in 1975 Miles joined Butler White & Hanna (now Simpson Grierson) before travelling to London where he was employed by Allen & Overy as a member of their banking and securities team. On his return he joined Russell McVeagh before joining Castle Connor Green (as it then was) in 1985, becoming a partner of the firm later that year.
Miles undertakes a wide range of company, commercial and property work. His clients have and/or do include publicly listed companies, medium sized companies, small businesses and high net worth individuals. Miles has advised on a number of specialised banking and security transactions as well as offers to the public of securities and compliance with prior Securities Act. Miles has been a member of the Auckland District Law Society Property and Conveyancing Committee and is currently an ADLS Committee Member. He has established a strong rapport with clients and families of the firm for whom he is responsible and has established and acts as Trustee of a large number of Trusts and Estates.
Following graduation from Victoria University, Wellington and travelling overseas Pat gained experience with large and medium sized law firms in Auckland.
After practising for a number of years Pat decided to establish a small innovative firm focussed on accessibility and personal attention to client interests in 1981.
Since then the firm has successfully expanded and consolidated as an experienced, innovative client focussed practice with a diverse range of clients some of whom have been with the firm since inception.
Pat recognises the importance of making the practice of law relevant in a rapidly changing world while maintaining the core values of personal service, understanding client needs, adding value to client affairs wherever possible and supporting clients achieve their goals.
His clients include a large number of private individuals, active property investors and developers, start-up ventures as well as a large number of family trusts, medium sized companies and small businesses.
Colin joined Castle/Brown in 1996 from a large central city law firm. Before entering the law Colin spent seven years overseas and on his return to New Zealand ran a successful business in Auckland for a number of years.
Colin has developed considerable experience in advising and providing lending clients with security for their advances and enforcing those securities where necessary. As well, Colin has considerable experience in conveyancing, residential, subdivision and commercial transactions.
Colin also provides pro bono advice to members of the public through the Citizens Advice Bureau network.
Colin is committed to providing prompt, efficient and friendly services to clients of the firm.
Ralph has had extensive experience both in New Zealand, where he initially worked for Paul Cheng & Co in Wellington and in London where he worked for various local authorities specialising in public housing law.
On returning to New Zealand, Ralph initially worked for 2 well established medium sized firms in Auckland as a litigator before bringing his expertise as a litigation expert to Castle/Brown in 2012.
Ethan graduated from the University of Auckland in May 2015 and was admitted to the bar in April 2016. He joined our team at Castle/Brown in September 2017.
He has previously worked for a busy medium sized law firm specialising in property law.
Ethan is an enthusiastic and competent young lawyer who supports the partners and assists clients in a wide range of work, particularly on property, trust and estate matters. Ethan has particular interests in commercial law and litigation.
